Meet LQ
Say Hello to LQ
Our Mascot

Hi, I'm LQ, my name means Lesbian/Queer. I'm the mascot for Just Right's Lesbian Only Social Club and I couldn't be happier. I'm not home in Philly yet, when I arrive. I can't wait to meet each and every member of Just Right.
I have a lot in common with you and you can read more about that below.
Until we meet in person,
LQ
Oh, if you want to follow up on me, check out the blog here.
Here are five interesting facts on the alikeness of turtles and people of the LGBTQ+ community. These reasons are why LQ is Just Right Social Clubs Mascot.
1. Struggle for Acceptance
-
Lesbian Experience: Many lesbians face societal stigma, discrimination, and a lack of acceptance from family, friends, or communities. This can lead to feelings of isolation and the need to fight for their right to love and be themselves.
-
Turtle Struggle: Turtles often face challenges in their environments, such as habitat destruction and pollution. Their struggle for survival can be seen as a quest for acceptance in a world that often does not accommodate their needs.
2. Resilience
-
Lesbian Experience: The journey of coming out and living authentically can be fraught with challenges, but many lesbians demonstrate resilience by advocating for their rights and supporting one another in the LGBTQ+ community.
-
Turtle Struggle: Turtles are known for their resilience in the face of adversity. They navigate dangerous environments, evade predators, and often return to the same beaches to lay their eggs, showcasing their determination to survive.
3. Environmental Challenges
-
Lesbian Experience: Societal norms and laws can create an environment that is hostile to LGBTQ+ individuals, making it difficult for them to thrive. This can be likened to the environmental challenges turtles face, such as climate change and habitat loss.
-
Turtle Struggle: Turtles are affected by environmental changes, such as rising sea levels and pollution, which threaten their habitats and survival. Their struggle reflects the broader impact of human actions on nature.
4. Community and Support
-
Lesbian Experience: Many lesbians find strength in community, forming support networks that help them navigate their struggles and celebrate their identities.
-
Turtle Struggle: Turtles often rely on their natural instincts and behaviors, such as nesting in groups, which can be seen as a form of community support in the wild.
5. Journey of Self-Discovery
-
Lesbian Experience: The journey of understanding one’s sexual orientation and identity can be complex and deeply personal, often involving self-discovery and acceptance.
-
Turtle Struggle: Turtles undergo significant life stages, from hatchlings to adults, each phase requiring adaptation and growth, symbolizing a journey of self-discovery in their own right.
